Service Days

Giving back to our communities Lake County is central to Youth Conservation Corps’ mission. As young people in our YouthBuild program earn the education, income and career skills they need to thrive, we re-invest in our neighborhoods through cleanup days and other volunteer opportunities.

Earth Day

In recognition of Earth Day each year, YouthBuild crews and YCC staff volunteer time and resources to plant trees, build community gardens and otherwise restore green space of our community.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service

As our largest volunteer event, we honor Dr. King’s legacy with more than 100 volunteers cleaning up communities throughout Lake County. Each year, we support several local nonprofits – such as A Safe Place and Haces – by painting, landscaping, cleaning or completing any other service projects they need.

Waukegan Sweep the Streets

As strong supporters of local projects, we participate in citywide volunteer days. Mayor Cunningham’s Sweep the Streets includes picking up litter, landscaping and freshening downtown Waukegan and other areas.
